Speakers
Elizabeth Anderson, Head of PR, THE ICONIC

Liz Anderson is a Communications and PR Specialist who has dedicated the past decade to helping brands master the art of storytelling and create meaningful conversations with their customers. Having built her PR career within the retail, tech and lifestyle space, both locally and internationally, Liz is passionate about understanding consumer behaviour and the ‘why’ behind purchase intent. Such passion is fuelled by her keen interest in sociology, anthropology and how social media has fundamentally changed the way we communicate and connect.

Liz’s approach to developing holistic marketing strategies is that of ‘creative pragmatism’, believing that ‘visionary’ and ‘culturally relevant’ ideas must be underpinned with data and insights to truly drive long-term brand affinity and engagement, shift the commercial needle and achieve earned and owned media success. Liz also believes that the industry should focus on understanding how to harness the power of ‘influence’ rather than just that of ‘influencers’, and sees this as an important part of PR’s digital transformation.

As Head of PR at Australia and New Zealand’s fastest growing online fashion and sports retailer, THE ICONIC, Liz will talk us through why authenticity and transparency matters in an age of ‘commoditised convenience’, and how (and why) PR can help influence commercial business decisions beyond the marketing department.

Ashford Pritchard, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Kicker Communications

Ashford has spent the past decade helping people, organisations and brands discover and tell their story.

He has worked as a journalist and editor, curated international events, managed public relations and communications campaigns, and counselled senior business leaders.

As co-founder and director of Kicker Communications, Ash assists organisations such as KPMG, Techstars and the Australian Centre for Business Growth at UniSA to achieve their business goals through strategic communications. Kicker has offices in Sydney and Adelaide and works with some of Australia’s most exciting tech startups across industries such as Space/IoT, Fintech, Agtech and Edtech.

Ash will talk us through experiences building consumer and stakeholder trust through PR, storytelling for the modern age and strategies for marketing and communications professionals to work better together.

Lyndsey Gordon, Senior Public Relations Manager, P&O Cruises – Carnival

Lyndsey has a passion for working with consumer brands to build positive reputations through earned media.

A natural storyteller, she has a knack for thinking creatively to generate media headlines at times when brands have little to say – but want to make some noise! On the flip side, Lyndsey has navigated many challenging media situations to assist brands in staying out of the spotlight when potential crises and issues unfold.

After a long-standing career in consumer agency-land, Lyndsey has spent the past two years leading the public relations and social media for P&O Cruises – part of the Carnival Australia family of cruise brands.

At this event, Lyndsey will share her thoughts on the changing media landscape and the role of the influencer in today’s digital age. Who is an influencer and what role do they have play in creating the news agenda?
