SUMMARY:B&T Changing the Ratio
DESCRIPTION:Changing the Ratio is B&T’s bold initiative to continue our mission of making equality and inclusion the norm in Australia’s communications industry and beyond. \nChanging the Ratio brings together spectacular speakers and industry pannellists. Attendees should walk away with practical tools\, case studies and things to do right now that they can take back to their own organisation to drive equality\, not only within their own businesses\, but in the advertising they create. \nOur industry is in a unique position. Not only do we affect consumer behaviour through advertising and marketing\, we help shape culture. \nThis is a forum for the industry to come together to discuss how we\, as an industry\, can overcome biases (gender\, cultural\, age and more) to creative more inclusive workplaces and better work.

SUMMARY:APG presents Battle of Big Thinking at Vivid
DESCRIPTION:Trust has been linked to every business and every kind of human emotion. But how does it connect to modern life? \nIs it tangible? Is it intangible? Does it live in institutions\, in people\, in leaders\, in brands? or is it up to every individual to decide. \nIs Australia a nation that has been taught not to trust? To only offer it as the ultimate reward. Have we been taught to start from distrust\, to be more cynical and to always expect someone or something to let us down? Or are we more tolerant and expecting of trust breaches? Can they still break a deal? Once trust is lost can it ever be truly regained? Or does it even exist anymore? \nIn today’s modern world\, standards are in flux and everything has become more movable\, more flippant and more transient. That means key values that guide business are shifting too. They are eroding and also being redefined with the way brands and business work. In this climate is it naïve to hope that trust will remain a key guiding principle of how we engage and how we operate? \nGrappling with the question “has trust left the building?” will be tricky. It will take the most trusted and brilliant minds around to provoke\, to debate\, to convince and to put forward a credible and trustworthy point of view. \nCome along and listen for yourself at The Battle of Big Thinking\, an APG event at Vivid Sydney this June. \nDiving into the trust fray will never be this much fun again. \nThis event is being held in partnership with Powered\, a division of Nine Entertainment. \n2019 Speakers\n\nLisa Davies\, Editor\, Sydney Morning Herald\nCarl Ratcliff\, Chief Strategy Officer\, DDB\, Sydney\nPeter Fray\, Co-Director at Centre for Media Transition\, University of Technology Sydney\nKate Smither\, Chief Strategy Officer & APG co-Chair\, Publicis Communications\nFran Clayton\, Chief Strategy Officer\, McCann Australia\nDavid Warren\, Group Strategy Director\, BMF\n\n

SUMMARY:Marketing + Finance: How to demonstrate value to the business
DESCRIPTION:As marketers we know that in order to prove our worth\, we need to contribute to shared business goals\, demonstrate value and deliver a meaningful ROI. We also need to work with other areas of the business to get their buy-in and support for our work. \nAt this event\, we focus on the important topic of how marketing and finance can best work together and how you can ensure marketing is viewed as a revenue centre for the business (not a cost centre) and can take credit for marketing’s contribution to the bottom line. \nWith marketing being more measurable and transparent than ever\, it is essential that we communicate our work and our value in terms that are meaningful to others in the organisation. A big part of this is understanding the approach and metrics that the finance team use and ensure we are using the right language. \nRegardless of your role in the marketing team\, this is your chance to understand the numbers and metrics that matter to a business\, see how marketing can best work with internal stakeholders\, including the finance team\, and learn why building an ROI model without finance on your side won’t get the best outcomes.
