SUMMARY:APG presents Battle of Big Thinking at Vivid
DESCRIPTION:Trust has been linked to every business and every kind of human emotion. But how does it connect to modern life? \nIs it tangible? Is it intangible? Does it live in institutions\, in people\, in leaders\, in brands? or is it up to every individual to decide. \nIs Australia a nation that has been taught not to trust? To only offer it as the ultimate reward. Have we been taught to start from distrust\, to be more cynical and to always expect someone or something to let us down? Or are we more tolerant and expecting of trust breaches? Can they still break a deal? Once trust is lost can it ever be truly regained? Or does it even exist anymore? \nIn today’s modern world\, standards are in flux and everything has become more movable\, more flippant and more transient. That means key values that guide business are shifting too. They are eroding and also being redefined with the way brands and business work. In this climate is it naïve to hope that trust will remain a key guiding principle of how we engage and how we operate? \nGrappling with the question “has trust left the building?” will be tricky. It will take the most trusted and brilliant minds around to provoke\, to debate\, to convince and to put forward a credible and trustworthy point of view. \nCome along and listen for yourself at The Battle of Big Thinking\, an APG event at Vivid Sydney this June. \nDiving into the trust fray will never be this much fun again. \nThis event is being held in partnership with Powered\, a division of Nine Entertainment. \n2019 Speakers\n\nLisa Davies\, Editor\, Sydney Morning Herald\nCarl Ratcliff\, Chief Strategy Officer\, DDB\, Sydney\nPeter Fray\, Co-Director at Centre for Media Transition\, University of Technology Sydney\nKate Smither\, Chief Strategy Officer & APG co-Chair\, Publicis Communications\nFran Clayton\, Chief Strategy Officer\, McCann Australia\nDavid Warren\, Group Strategy Director\, BMF\n\n

Having built her PR career within the retail\, tech and lifestyle space\, both locally and internationally\, Liz is passionate about understanding consumer behaviour and the ‘why’ behind purchase intent. Such passion is fuelled by her keen interest in sociology\, anthropology and how social media has fundamentally changed the way we communicate and connect. \nLiz’s approach to developing holistic marketing strategies is that of ‘creative pragmatism’\, believing that ‘visionary’ and ‘culturally relevant’ ideas must be underpinned with data and insights to truly drive long-term brand affinity and engagement\, shift the commercial needle and achieve earned and owned media success. Liz also believes that the industry should focus on understanding how to harness the power of ‘influence’ rather than just that of ‘influencers’\, and sees this as an important part of PR’s digital transformation. \nAs Head of PR at Australia and New Zealand’s fastest growing online fashion and sports retailer\, THE ICONIC\, Liz will talk us through why authenticity and transparency matters in an age of ‘commoditised convenience’\, and how (and why) PR can help influence commercial business decisions beyond the marketing department. \nAshford Pritchard\, Co-Founder and Managing Director\, Kicker Communications \nAshford has spent the past decade helping people\, organisations and brands discover and tell their story. \nHe has worked as a journalist and editor\, curated international events\, managed public relations and communications campaigns\, and counselled senior business leaders. \nAs co-founder and director of Kicker Communications\, Ash assists organisations such as KPMG\, Techstars and the Australian Centre for Business Growth at UniSA to achieve their business goals through strategic communications. On the flip side\, Lyndsey has navigated many challenging media situations to assist brands in staying out of the spotlight when potential crises and issues unfold. \nAfter a long-standing career in consumer agency-land\, Lyndsey has spent the past two years leading the public relations and social media for P&O Cruises – part of the Carnival Australia family of cruise brands. \nAt this event\, Lyndsey will share her thoughts on the changing media landscape and the role of the influencer in today’s digital age. Who is an influencer and what role do they have play in creating the news agenda?

SUMMARY:Accessible Brands Disrupting the World
DESCRIPTION:This ONEtalks presentation will showcase some of the world’s most accessible and inclusive brands. From MedMen to The Phluid Project\, The One Centre’s John Ford and Katie Molloy will examine how brands are taking marginalised communities into the mainstream by having a purposeful brand vision supported with design thinking. \n“The design and marketing industry is playing a powerful role in creating more equitable\, inclusive businesses. There are naysayers who believe purpose-driven branding is just another fad\, but we’re hoping to show that having a purposeful positioning – supported by design thinking – can tackle taboos\, challenge prejudice and give marginalised communities a voice\,” explains Ford\, CEO & Founder of The One Centre. \nEvery year\, Sydney Design Festival brings together the best creative thinkers and branding experts from around the world to unpack design in all its forms. This year’s theme is ‘Accessing Design’. The program will explore the role of creative professionals in creating a more accessible world and runs from 1st to 10th March. \nSydney Design Festival is one of the longest running design festivals in the world\, and attracts 65\,000+ attendees to over 100 events. \nONEtalks is The One Centre’s quarterly brand innovation series. Drawing on case studies from around the world\, it examines how high-growth brands use creative thinking to shape every facet of their brand’s expression – from their commercial models to their communications\, culture and causes. \n‘Accessible Brands Disrupting the World’  takes place on Tuesday 5th March\, 6:00pm to 7:30pm at The One Centre\, 71 York St\, Sydney. SUMMARY:Future of Brands Sydney
DESCRIPTION:DRIVING BRAND GROWTH THROUGH MARKETING \nThe Future of Brands is co-located in Sydney with our leading broadcast event\, Future TV Advertising Forum \nWe will be picking up on the key issues facing brands in in this complex\, digital world. \nWe are keen to explore the impact voice marketing will make over the next few years – very significant in the view of some; and we will look more broadly at marketing to machines. \nWe will hear case studies on the development of brand experiences\, pulling together both offline and online examples; and explore the growth of social e-commerce. \nWith so many vying for the consumer’s attention in so many ways\, loyalty marketing is taking on new emphasis. We will explore that\, and the other possibility that you might be battling to deal with a loss of trust in your brand? \nIt’s no wonder in such a fast-moving world that marketers are starting to seek new and different agency relationships; and agencies in turn are keen to preserve their place at the table and extend their impact and influence where possible. We ask what agency models are coming to the fore and where the management consultancies sit in all this.
